On January 4th, OMM celebrated the opening night of its first residency exhibit, "Third Place". The works produced by Tyler Thacker and Erin Wolf Mommsen during their three months in Eskişehir focusing on the concept of biomimicry will be on view through February 1st 2020.
The name “Third Place” addresses the term coined by sociologist Ray Oldenburg to indicate places where people spend time between home (first place) and work (second place). Third places are locations where individuals exchange ideas, spend time, and build relationships. In this case, the third place is the home, the work and the space for exchange; and the thresholds between the three merge together. The notion also emphasizes the exploration of the “museum space” as athird place set for bartering ideas and voices.
